Music and business combine now as Executive Director of the San Jose Jazz Society

I am a woodwind player - primarily saxophone with flute and clarinet doubles. I play all these instruments - (some better than others)

Saxophone - baritone, tenor, bass, alto, soprano, and sopranino
Flute - C flute, alto flute, and bass flute
Clarinet - Soprano and bass clarinet

I also lead the octet, Octobop, that specializes in West Coast Jazz. I write and arrange music for Octobop and other musical groups as well. The picture below was taken at Club Jazz Nouveau in San Francisco in July 2004, a week before Octobop recorded its third CD - After Dark.

The latest endeavor is Mystic Lane Productions, founded to produce CD's, promote artists, and provide great music to people.

I am a member of The Recording Academy (NARAS) and the American Federation of Musicians.

Here's my bio from the Octobop web site:

Geoff is a native of New Orleans where he first became addicted to great music, spicy foods, good times and still managed to obtain masters degrees from Clemson University and the University of Missouri. Working in the United States and Europe, Geoff has performed with Mel Torme, Nelson Riddle, Tom Jones, Bob Hope, as well as many musicals, shows, and other productions. Geoff studied arranging and theory with David Baker, Don Haas, and Charles Barber. His primary influences in playing and writing include Gerry Mulligan, James Moody, Sam Butera, Bill Holman, Marty Paich, Nelson Riddle, and Henry Mancini. He is still trying to create the perfect gumbo.
